Biomechanical approach

Neuromuscular therapy (Trigger points)

Based on neurophysiology and muscular biomechanics, this course develops techniques aimed at relieving muscle pain, knots, or band shaped areas, originating from trigger points. Finally, this course goal is to provide the participant with concrete, simple and effective tools to deal with the multiple problems coming from myofascial pain and musculoskeletal disorders encountered in the clinic.

Prerequisites

Massage therapy diploma (400 hours minimum) or chiropractor, physiotherapist, osteopath or physical rehabilitation therapist, upon presentation of proof of title.

Course objectives

  • To recognize the proprioceptors allowing myofascial and nervous links for the management of muscle contraction.
  • To identify and use sensorimotor information by palpation to locate trigger points and dysfunctional muscle areas.
  • To use your body in an ergonomic way in the palpatory evaluation, as well as in the practical application of the techniques.
