This course is for anyone who wants to learn the basics of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The great theories which are at the heart of this ancient medicine are discussed and applied to some of the most encountered pathologies in the practice of shiatsu massage.

Course objectives

  • To define the various common terms relating to TCM.
  • To list the main constituents of Chinese medical theory (TCM).
  • To understand the applications of the following theories: Yin/Yang, 5 elements, pathogenic factors, Zang fu (functions of organs and bowels).
  • To associate the pathological manifestations with the functions concerned.
  • To link the imbalances of a substance to the viscera concerned.
